As part of Woodside's Operations Transformation Program to reduce OPEX by 30% by 2025, the Condition Based Maintenance squad was tasked with defining how Woodside could adopt Condition Based Maintenance as an alternative maintenance strategy. The former landscape at Woodside was limit to time-based maintenance, which resulted in operational machinery being under or over maintained, regardless of the condition of the machine. Working with Woodside Engineering experts the team followed a lean UX and Design Thinking approach to define the opportunity space and understand the existing pain points faced by the business. The team then continued into an agile delivery workflow to design, validate, and scale a Condition Based Maintenance workflow that brought human experience together with workflows integration with core operational systems. SAP CMMS and Woodside' Permit system.
Business Result
Design and delivery of a condition-based monitoring and execution system to enable IoT driven exception-based monitoring and automated SAP maintenance planning. The system and new workflow is forecasted to create $2.5M worth of recurring annual savings and has realised recurring annual savings of $178K to date.
